Certain heads had figures in thousands but when such financials were rounded to millions, the values became 0.00 – which they wanted to indicate differently in the published financials (where it is clear that the amount is not zero but because of the high level of rounding, it is showing zero). We made a minor adjustment to eMerge’s rounding logic, adding a star mark next to such zero values to signify that there were figures in full numbers. To accommodate this, the client needed to maintain both – the original data and the revised data after the effect of merger. We addressed this by organizing entities into two hierarchies – one representing the original structure and the other reflecting the changes due to merger. In this fashion, the original published financials were retained in the original hierarchy and the financials with the effect of merger were made available in the new hierarchy – avoiding any overwriting or deletion of original data. “

“In the context of a fabric product manufacturing company’s hierarchical structure, where entity B operates as a subsidiary of entity A and entity C operates as a subsidiary of entity B, intricate shareholding dynamics were at play. Specifically, Entity B held an 80% stake in Entity C, while Entity A held a separate 10% stake in Entity C. (Please note that the percentages mentioned are for example and the actual ones). The challenge arose during the generation of consolidated financials, where it was necessary to accurately reflect minority interest. This entailed showing a 20% minority interest in Entity B’s financials and reversing the 10% stake held by Entity A in Entity C when generating Entity A’s consolidated financials. Through a small modification in the minority interest logic, we successfully automated this reversal process within eMerge. Users are now required to input group holding information and execute a reversal procedure, streamlining the handling of complex shareholding structures in financial reporting.”
